would the story be more educational if the beast stayed a beast? Or if Ariel never got her voice back.

  1. Technically the little mermaid dies in the end and that is a better story... educational, idk.

  2. True, but I guess I was referring more to the Disney cartoons that kids see. It's like....hey, if you struggle with their imperfections, they will eventually change! Bullshit.

  3. I guess you can look at it as, if you recognize your imperfections you can change them. The beast changed on the inside and that lead to the change on the outside. So the transformation is more of a visual symbolism. You don't feel and act like a beast, so you are no longer one. The character's emotional handicaps manifest themselves physically. These stories work better for internal and not physical handicaps... actually... look at Aimee Mullins. Her outward appearance is technically the same, but you can't say that she's anything but beautiful and a different person in her situation would not have that kind of drive and conviction; her internal beauty does radiate on the outside. Life is less literal, but it works
