If Detroit wasn't so dangerous I would absolutely love to go. The ruins are beautiful, full of history, pain and poetry...The things that make abandoned buildings so appealing to me, also make them appealing to "broken" people. Perhaps when you feel abandoned or incomplete inside, you can see the beauty of these structures that ones had a function and brought joy, but now stand forgotten, abused and decaying. Not that my state is that dramatic...I just like to surround myself with that atmosphere, cuz i find it lonely and poetic, as i aim for my photography to be.

haha...so I am sitting in a mostly empty class. 3 people in it but me, and all are busy. All girls. I took off my sweater and like 10 minutes late realized my shirt has shifted and my chest with the bra is totally out. Fucking embarrassing, don't think nay one noticed though...good start to a school year.

I have had many thoughts. It's the first day of school. I have a break between 12 20 and 6 30. When I have actual assignments it won't be as bad. I did some editing...Some researching....SOme thinking and some talking. 2 more hrs to go, and some eating is on the agenda as well.

So...my thoughts.

1. Animals have brands. They are marketed, just like anything else. A business with a penguin logo and a lion logo can both symbolize royal, but in such different ways. How have these identities been created? Through many cartoons, children's books and animal planet shows. We project our qualities on these creatures...I don't know if nay are notoriously evil...Crocodiles generally don't have a good rep, sharks either....So we don't like dangerous reptiles? We tend to like furry things, even if they're hunters like lions and tigers....Anything "cute". It's possible to find reference for any animal that humanizes them and makes them into either good or evil. Bats and spiders....spiderman and batman. For some animals you just have to look harder to find the positive reference.

2. I forgot =(

Hopefully my senior project will get approved. I want to make a book based on this song. Best of Times by Sage Francis. It has a personal feel, with random, personal thoughts, just like I love. ANd they're super long too...So I think it will be a fun project to work on and it shouldn't be too hard to make it graphic.

Yay. I'm off to eat, before I faint from hunger.

Having an artistic collaborator is a blessing. Being able to bounce work off of each other, call each other out on bullshit, inspire and create together....A creative can't ask for much more.

Tomorrow. Sunrise. New Jersey at 5 30 AM. About an hour drive. I'm excited.
Monday school starts, fuck you, school. There, I feel a little better.

I wonder if it's more difficult for women to deal with sexual rejection. I'm not talking dating or relationships, but pure sex. We're taught that all men want to fuck us and we need to be careful to not get hurt....

So I wonder if it's the same for other women...A complete mystery when a man turns you down. You might not be his type, or you might come on too strong and kill his sense of accomplishment cuz you seem easy, or he might not believe in no strings sex...a shitload of reasons, and each one can be understood, you might even back down yourself after he explains....But the initial reaction is pure confusion.

Interesting fact, Yale MFA accepts only 9 people per year in the discipline of photography.

I'm not doing nearly enough...I'm not talking about Yale....Just in general. I need to shoot daily. And if self portraits is "my thing" then I need to work on it more. The last time I shot it was a 10 minute set with no good results. I'll try to make something worthy tonight.

My cat likes to celebrate Mondays by pooping on the carpet....I can relate.
